Michael Mahoney

Michael Mahoney is a graduate of Naropa University in the Wilderness Therapy program. He is conversational in Spanish. Michael grew up in Virginia, and since childhood, he has found connection, healing and integration from being in nature. After college, he worked for a decade in middle and high schools on the Navajo Nation in New Mexico, and then in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His work in special education eventually led him to explore a passion for mental health.

Michael loves working at Medicine Horse because our animals offer us a relational connection which in turn helps us connect with ourselves and with other & important relationships in our lives.
