Men's Support Group

Why Horses?
Horses don’t ask you to explain yourself. They invite you to show up as you are. Sensitive to energy, emotion, and non-verbal communication, horses reflect what we’re holding—sometimes even before we’re aware of it ourselves.
In this space, you’re not expected to talk your way through things if that’s not your style. Instead, horses help us tune into what’s happening beneath the surface—what we’re feeling, what we’re avoiding, and where we’re holding tension. You’ll have the opportunity to notice patterns, practice new ways of being, and experience relationships without judgment or agenda.
No horse experience is required.

Join us for a monthly, men's support group designed for adults ages 18+ who identify as a man.
In a world that often encourages men to tough it out, shut it down, or go it alone, this group offers something different: space to slow down, show up, and connect—with yourself, with others, and with the horses.
This group is for anyone who identifies as a man — inclusive of all backgrounds, life experiences, and sexual orientations.
You’re welcome here if you’re:
Navigating a major life transition
Dealing with a health issue
Managing relationship challenges
Carrying stress or burnout
Experiencing intense emotions
Rethinking what masculinity means to you
Simply looking for a space to be real and connect with others
How to Participate
Cost: $35 per session
Participants register for each monthly group separately, but if the experience feels supportive, you are welcome to return each month.

A Different Approach to Men's Mental Health
This group is built on a relational, choice-driven model. You’ll be supported in showing up however you are, with the freedom to move at your own pace and participate in ways that feel meaningful to you.
We understand that not everyone connects through words—and that strength can look like presence, stillness, curiosity, or simply being there. This group honors qualities often overlooked in traditional therapy spaces—like commitment, resilience, problem-solving, and protectiveness—and offers a place to explore how those strengths can support your well-being, not get in the way of it.
Upcoming Groups

Each session will explore a different theme related to connection, communication, and emotional resilience. These themes are meant to spark reflection and conversation—but you’re always welcome to bring whatever is on your mind.
Thursday, July 24th from 5:30 - 7 PM
Theme: How can I stay with intense moments without checking out or lashing out?
What to expect:
This is a monthly support group with each 90-minute session offering something new—rooted in presence, curiosity, and connection.
Sessions often begin with grounding time outdoors, followed by optional hands-on activities with horses, group reflection, and space to simply be. Whether you're actively participating or just observing, everything is done at your own pace.
We prioritize emotional safety. You’ll never be asked to share more than you’re comfortable with, and participation in horse activities or group conversations is always optional.
No prior horse experience is needed—just a willingness to show up, as you are. Being outside with the herd offers a calm, natural setting to reconnect—with yourself and others—away from the distractions of daily life.
While each session has a guiding theme, your voice matters. There’s always space for what feels most present, and we invite participants to help shape the group as it evolves.
Our work is experiential, not clinical. With guidance from a licensed therapist and support from the herd, you’ll be invited into a space that honors choice and personal pacing. Horses, as relational and intuitive beings, help us tune into what’s happening beneath the surface.
You don’t have to talk a lot. You don’t have to “fix” anything. You just have to show up.

Meet the instructor
Michael Mahoney
Michael Mahoney (LPCC) is a graduate of Naropa University in the Wilderness Therapy program. He is conversational in Spanish. Michael loves working at Medicine Horse because animals offer us a relational connection which in turn, helps us connect with ourselves and with other & important relationships in our lives.
Michael comes to this group with his own experience of being a man, but not as an expert of anyone else's experience. His intention as a facilitator is to create space for the group to touch into their own wisdom around being men.
