The caregiver program that my Mom & I took part in at Medicine Horse was amazing, healing, and transformative.  Words really cannot describe how it positively impacted our lives.  We will take the wonderful experience forward with us and cherish it forever.  The horses are magical and the caring staff are so kind and extremely helpful!  I hope many more veterans and their loved ones can benefit from this experience!

Stable Hands

A group for caregivers & their veteran

Caregivers give of themselves every day to support those who need them. It can be fulfilling, and a way to show love, care, and devotion to loved ones. It can also feel like a lot. It can feel lonely and tiring, and like there’s no space to relax, have fun, or take time to ourselves.

Stable Hands is a 6-week group (meets once a week for 2 hours) for veterans and their caregivers. We offer both a chance to find some space, slow down, take time to breathe, and be taken care of. Our herd of therapy horses will show you how to BE in the moment, connect, and receive. Our team of therapists will support you and others who understand your struggles to share the burden, let go of what’s tough, and take a moment to yourselves.

This program is made possible through our partnership with the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center and is free for participants; donations are always welcome and appreciated.

We would like to provide our great appreciation to the unsung heroes within our Veteran families; the Caregiver.  Caregivers are the backbone of keeping families together and do so without fanfare or acknowledgement.  Medicine Horse has truly recognized the daily sacrifices made by Caregivers and have shown a commitment to both Veterans and their Caregivers by creating specialized groups with a focus on improving their well-being, so that they are in a better position to help their Veteran live their life to its fullest potential.
