Volunteers Make Medicine Horse Program Possible. Join our team!
Getting Started: To become a volunteer at Medicine Horse, please follow these steps:
Print and fill out the Volunteer Application.
Contact us to reserve a place in the next orientation or horse handling class. Volunteer orientations are held on the third Saturday of each month. Let us know if you plan to attend.
Background checks are required for all staff and volunteers. After the orientation you will receive an email link from BISI to complete a short form. The fee will be $21.25 and is paid online.
- Bring completed application to your orientation/horse handling class
Horse Handling: Assist facilitators with programs offered at Medicine Horse Program. Your job as a horse handler will be to keep the horses and participants safe, while assisting with any class activities. Horse handling class and evaluation required.
Our next horse handling class will be on April 8, 2017 from 10am-3pm. Contact email@example.com for more information.
Muckers: We are looking for volunteers to assist with mucking (just a fancy word for removing manure from the horse stalls.) Mucking is essential to keeping the facility clean and our horses healthy! Volunteers are needed 7 days a week from 9am to 3pm.
Other: We can use your help in all sorts of ways: answering phones, maintenance projects, community outreach, event planning, fundraising and more. Get in touch to learn about all of our current options!
At Medicine Horse Program, we strive to make volunteering worthwhile for you. We truly couldn't do what we do without our volunteers. New in 2017:
- Monthly gift card drawings for stall muckers.
- Sign up to be a buddy to one of the horses. After your stall cleaning shift, connect with your favorite horse through grooming, leading, or just spending time in the stall.
- Monthly opportunities for all volunteers to come hang out with our horses, free of charge, in a supervised setting. Get to know the horses and people who make MHP a success! If you are a current volunteer, please join us on any of the following dates to spend time with the horses and learn what EAP is all about first hand: February 25, March 19, April 15 from 10am-12pm.
